Just like in Hiragana, the small ッ (Sokuon) is used in Katakana to create a double consonant sound (a small pause).

(හිරගනා අකුරු හල් කිරීම හා සමානවම කතකන වලදීද කුඩා ッ අකුර (Sokuon) යොදාගනිමින් හල් කිරීම සිදුවේ.)
